  • douglas sean o'donnell, senior pastor


    Doug was called to Westminster as the Senior Pastor in 2017. He is the primary preaching pastor, provides vision for the church, and, along with the session, shepherds God’s people.  Doug was born and raised in Addison, Illinois. Recently, he served as the senior lecturer in Biblical Studies and Practical Theology at Queensland Theological College in Brisbane, Australia. Pastor O’Donnell has authored, edited, and contributed to a number of books, including two children’s books, six commentaries on the Bible, and The Pastor’s Book with R. Kent Hughes.  Doug is also an instructor for Charles Simeon Trust.

    Doug was converted to Christ in his late teens and has served in pastoral ministry for the past twenty-plus years. He is married to Emily and they have five children. Doug enjoys good coffee, long walks, reading poetry, cheering for the Big Ten, watching the NBA, and beating his family in Knock-Out.

  • Stephen Lynerd, Director of Worship and music


    Originally from New York, Stephen received a M.M. from The University of Maryland, College Park.  During post graduate studies at SUNY Purchase, Stephen moved to Texas and served in the music ministry of Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco.  He has also served at Valley Springs Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Sacramento, CA, Holy Trinity Church in Chicago, and First Baptist Church in Downers Grove, IL.  Stephen also tours and records as a jazz artist leading his quartet, The Stephen Lynerd Group, in addition to freelancing as a musician in and around Chicago.  Stephen toured for 9 years as drummer and solo percussionist with Tim Zimmerman and The King's Brass, as well as The Dallas Brass.  He and his wife Deborah, a teacher, live in Elgin, IL.

  • erik schwartz, youth director

    Erik helps oversee and lead all areas related to discipleship of the youth. In addition, Erik works at Westminster Christian School as a high school Bible instructor. Erik was raised in Elgin and attended Westminster Christian School and Church through high school. Westminster holds a place dear to Erik's heart as a deep love for Christ was fostered at both the school and church. After high school, he attended Trinity International University where he earned his degree in Education. Erik continued his collegiate education by earning a Masters in Education Leadership. Both degrees have grown and deepened Erik's desire to love and lead in a manner which points others to God and his love for them. Erick and his wife Erica reside in Elgin, with their niece, Passion, and their three sons: Isaiah, Silas, and Jeremiah. Erik enjoys wrestling with his boys in the basement, playing, coaching and watching soccer, and mastering the art of grilling.

  • Marcia Turpin, Children's Church coordinator

    Marcia is a follower of Jesus, wife to Tim, and mother of five children.  She has a degree in elementary education from Northeastern Illinois University and has had the privilege of working in children's ministry for over fifteen years.  The joy of sharing the truths of God's Word with young hearts and minds never gets old!  She considers it a great honor to serve the Lord through ministering the love of Jesus to children and their families.
